The surrounding area of the HIDEAWAY is steeped in history dating back to 2 BC ranging from cave temples to most venerated churches only a few kilometers away.

The 1st King to have constructed Pilikuttuwa, some 2300 ago is said to be King Devanampiyatissa & King Valagamba during his period of reign renovated and maintained this temple 1100 odd years ago.

Situated atop a rock that is the tallest point in the Colombo district (Western Province), Maligatenne is said to have been a seat of power simply for the reason that the sacred tooth relic having been safeguarded here.
